DELIGHTING IN THE ARRIVAL OF RAMADAN

Marhaban Ya Ramadan! Welcome, the month of Ramadan. A month greatly yearned for and greeted with joy. In the past, the companions of the Prophet rejoiced at the coming of Ramadan. They informed each other and shared happiness.
This joy is not without reason. Sheikh Dr. ‘Isa Al-Masmali explained in a gathering that the earlier generations were well aware that the lifespan of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad was very short, ranging from 60 to 70 years, compared to the previous generations who could live for hundreds of years.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:
“The lifespans of my Ummah are between sixty and seventy, and few are those who exceed this.” (Narrated by Ibn Majah, No. 4236, Sheikh Al Albani said: hasan sahih).
Nevertheless, Allah has honored this Ummah with the month of Ramadan. Within it lies one night that is better than a thousand months, that is the Night of Decree (Lailatul Qadar). Imagine if this Ummah finds that night! If one worships during it, surely they will have rewards that can surpass their age. Ma sha Allah.
Allah, the Exalted, says,
“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”
[Quran, Surah Al-Qadr (97): 3]
Thus, one of the special virtues of the month of Ramadan that should make this Ummah rejoice in its arrival. May Allah make it easy for us to worship in it and accept every righteous deed we do for His sake. Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.
